Chronic Diseases and Time

There are some things in life that you only learn with time. There are no shortcuts; you must experience and live a certain amount of time to understand these things.
One such thing is my learning about chronic illness. Not scientifically or medically, but more in a philosophical way. Due to the nature of the disease, it progresses slowly, and I couldn't see patterns of flairs and remissions until I had lived with it for a substantial time, ten years at present.
I see chronic illness progression like time. I can't go back in time. Time can be sped up or slowed down. I can't reverse the lasting effects of chronic illness. I can slow down the effects by treating my body better and speed it up by ignoring the signals.
